GETTING TO UTD

Ultra-trail® Drakensberg is based at Glencairn Farm, in the Kwazulu-Natal province of South Africa. The closest towns to Sani Pass Hotel are Himeville and Underberg.

Ultra-trail® Drakensberg is based at Glencairn Farm, in the Kwazulu-Natal province of South Africa. The closest towns to Sani Pass Hotel are Himeville and Underberg.

FLYING TO UTD

The closest airport is King Shaka International Airport in Durban. It’s 250km from the airport to the Race Village, approximately a 3.5-hour drive.

DRIVING TO UTD

Road Conditions The entire road from the airport to the Race Village is tarred and in good condition. The first 124km is on the N3, a national highway which is in great condition. The next 130km is on a smaller national road. This is a beautiful drive through the Natal midlands as you approach the Drakensberg. This road tends to have some potholes and road works. So it’s not advised to drive this road at night unless you are very familiar with the route.

CAR RENTAL

If you choose to rent a car, King Shaka International Airport has a large number of car rental companies that you can choose from. It is highly advisable to book your rental car in advance.

For the GCU65 runners and supporters: The road between Glencairn Farm and Silverstreams is about 40% tarred and 60% gravel road. Set 60 - 90 minutes for this drive. The gravel road conditions are rough but accessible with any small rental car.

 

For the SDR36 runners and supporters: The road between Glencairn Farm and the Start at Castleburn Farm is 100% tarred and the trip will take approximately 50 - 60mins.

UTD SHUTTLE SERVICE

Our round-trip Shuttle Service offers an easy way to travel to the Race Village at Glencairn Farm without booking a rental car.

 

TO THE RACE VILLAGE

Shuttles will leave at 11h00 and 13h00 from King Shaka Airport on Thursday 25th April 2025.

FROM THE RACE VILLAGE

The Shuttles will return to King Shaka Airport at 13h00 on Sunday 27th April 2025.

The Shuttle Service must be booked in advance. Spots are limited but can be increased on demand.

RACE START SHUTTLES

Shuttles to your race start are available from the Race Village at Glencairn Farm. Please make sure you add a Race Shuttle to your entry at checkout. The Shuttles will depart timeously and the onus is on the athlete to arrive on time. Should an athlete miss their Shuttle the responsibility will lie with them to get to their respective start. 

SHUTTLE (OPEN SOON)

Shuttles will depart from the Glencairn Farm on Saturday morning to take athletes to the Premier Resort Sani Pass.  Race Shuttles for DRJ25 depart from Glencairn Farm from 08h00 on Saturday 26th April.

DRJ25

Shuttles are in mini-buses. The approximate drive time to Castleburn is 1 hour. Race Shuttles for SDR36 depart from Glencairn Farm from 11h00 on Saturday 26th April.

Shuttles depart from the Race Village on Saturday morning to take athletes to Silverstreams. The approximate drive time to Silverstreams is 1.5 hours.  

Race Shuttles for UTD100 depart from Glencairn Farm from 03h30 on Saturday 26th April.

Shuttles are in mini-buses. The approximate drive time to Silverstreams is 1.5 hours. Race Shuttles for GCU65 depart from Glencairn Farm from 04h30 on Saturday 26th April.

GCU65

Shuttles are in 4X4 vehicles provided by Major Adventures. The approximate drive time is 1.5 hours to the Lesotho Border Post at the top of the Sani Pass. Make sure you have your passport.

Race Shuttles for UTD Miler depart from Glencairn Farm from 06h15 on Friday 25th April.
